Summary

SINCE THE HEAT CAPACITY OF AN ABSORPTION REFRIGERATING MACHINE IS GREATER THAN A VAPOUR COMPRESSION MACHINE, PROBLEMS ARISE WITH DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS WHEN THERE ARE CHANGES IN THE COOLING LOADS. INVESTIGATIONS WERE THEREFORE CARRIED OUT TO CONTROL THE METHOD OF ENERGY INPUT AND THE SOLUTION FLOW RATE. OPTIMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS CORRESPONDING TO THE COOLING LOAD CAN BE ESTIMATED FROM STEADY STATE CHARACTERISTICS AND IF THE RELATION BETWEEN THESE TWO PARAMETERS IS KNOWN, FEED CONTROL CAN BE EMPLOYED. A PROPOSAL IS MADE FOR A NEW ALGORITHM WHICH ENABLES SMOOTH CHANGES IN THE COOLING CAPACITY AND A REDUCTION IN THE FUEL CONSUMPTION.
