Modelling of a multi-type heat pump system with variations of connecting pipe length and altitude.

Author(s) : LEE S., HEO J., BAEK C., et al.

Summary

The applications of multi-type heat pumps into high-rise buildings have been increased due to their advantages in comfort and energy conservation. However, it is well known that the performance of a multi-type heap pump system is degraded with the increase of connecting pipe length and altitude when it is installed in high-rise buildings. In this study, a simulation model was developed in the heating and cooling mode to investigate the performance of a multi-type heat pump with long connecting pipes. In addition, the simulation results of the multi-type heat pump were validated with the experimental data. The deviations of the predicted COP and cooling capacity from the measured data were within 11%.
