Modelling refrigeration and heat pump systems with software for power cycles.

Summary

The role of refrigeration machines and heat pumps as integrated parts of energy supply systems is increasing as a result of the search for energy-efficient total energy systems. In refrigeration technology there is also a tendency towards centralized systems with secondary refrigerants. With system layout varying from case to case, engineers need flexible tools for design, analysis and optimisation. The Dutch computer program Cycle-Tempo, developed by Delft University of Technology and TNO, has been adapted for modelling both refrigeration machines and heat pumps. The paper focuses on the current status of the development.
