The design of heat pumps by computer with "HPDesign".

Author(s) : CONDE M. R.

Summary

The performance of a vapour compression heat pump may be calculated from the source and sink temperatures between which it has to operate. In practice that performance is severely reduced due to irreversibilities. Although these irreversibilities may eventually be accurately estimated at a given operating condition (design point), they can vary significatively over the operating range of the machine, which is particularly wide for air-source heat pumps. The use of simulation software in the design of heat pumps allows their optimization for the likely range of operation, instead of only for a certain design point. "HPDesign" serves this need and is a software for the computer-assisted design of heat pumps.
