Summary

THE PRESENT LOW ENERGY PRICES POSE A GREAT CHALLENGE TO THE ENERGY MANAGEMENT CAPABILITIES OF A BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEM (BAS). THE COST/BENEFIT RELATION IS ADVERSELY AFFECTED, FORCING THE BAS TO SHOW ALL ITS TALENTS TO SATISFY THE USER. ON THE OTHER HAND, MAJOR ENHANCEMENTS IN THE GRAPHICS CAPABILITIES AND THE TREND TOWARDS NETWORKING SYSTEMS RESULT IN A VARIETY OF IMPROVED FEATURES. BAS HAS BECOME A STANDARD IN LARGE BUILDINGS. THE QUESTION ASKED TODAY IS NOT < WHETHER > BUT < HOW > IT SHOULD BE REALIZED.
