Moisture conditions in highly insulated outdoor ventilated crawl spaces in cold climates.
Author(s) : MATILAINEN M., KURNITSKI J.
Type of article: Article
Summary
This article presents a simulation of outdoor air ventilated crawl space and the thermal insulation of the foundations and base floor of buildings in Finland. Traditionally a thin layer of lightweight expanded clay aggregate or expanded polystyrene is used but with thicker covers a lower air change rate is necessary and would provide lower relative humidity values and mould growth.
