Summary

THE EFFECTS OF LOCALIZED PHONONS DUE TO IRON IMPURITIES IN IRON-NIOBIUM, IRON-TANTALUM AND IRON-MOLYBDENUM SYSTEMS ON THE ELECTRON-PHONON PARAMETERS AND THE TRANSITION TEMPERATURE HAVE BEEN EVALUATED FROM LOW TEMPERATURE CALCULATIONS OF RECOILLESS FRACTIONS AND SECOND ORDER DOPPLER SHIFTS. AN INCREASE IN THE TRANSITION TEMPERATURE IS REPORTED WITH INCREASE IN IMPURITY CONCENTRATION PARTICULARLY IN IRON-NIOBIUM AND IRON-TANTALUM SYSTEMS SIGNIFYING THE EFFECT OF LOCALIZED PHONONS AND NON-EXISTENCE OF A LOCALIZED MOMENT IN THESE ALLOYS. A DRASTIC FALL OF TRANSITION TEMPERATURE AND NO FURTHER CHANGE WITH IRON CONCENTRATION IN IRON-MOLYBDENUM SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN FOUND INDICATING THE NORMAL METALLIC BEHAVIOUR OF THESE ALLOYS FOR ANY IRON CONCENTRATION.
