Summary

THE TWINNING PLANE IN A SUPERCONDUCTOR IS CONSIDERED IN A SITUATION WHEN IN THE ABSENCE OF SCATTERING THE CRITICAL TEMPERATURE OF TWO-DIMENSIONAL SUPERCONDUCTIVITY AT THE PLANE EXCEEDS THE BULK CRITICAL TEMPERATURE. IT IS SHOWN THAT ELECTRON SCATTERING FROM THE PLANE INTO THE BULK STRONGLY SUPPRESSES TWO-DIMENSIONAL SUPERCONDUCTIVITY AND, HENCE, LOWERS THE CRITICAL TEMPERATURE OF THE SUPERCONDUCTIVITY LOCALIZED AT THE TWINNING PLANE.
