Summary

STATISTICS OFFERED IN THIS PAPER AND REFERRING TO ONE COMPANY'S OUTPUT INDICATE THAT, ALTHOUGH AN INCREASED TOTAL TONNAGE OF AIR-CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN SOLD OVER THE YEARS 1981 TO 1985, THE LARGER PROPORTION OF THE INCREASE HAS BEEN IN SMALL PACKAGED AIR-CONDITIONING UNITS. THE REASONS SUGGESTED ARE THAT PACKAGED UNITS OFFER LOWER INSTALLATION COSTS AND GREATER FLEXIBILITY, AND THEREFORE ECONOMY, IN THE GROWING AREA OF MULTI-ROOMED BUILDING INSTALLATIONS. D.W.H.
