Summary
The use of cold-heat storage by "Worldchamp", a mushroom farm in Ammerzoden, yields an annual energy saving of about 150,000 kWh. The cold storage system put into operation last year has proven to be much more cost-effective than the refrigeration equipment used before. Compared with the electrically driven refrigeration machines of the same capacity the new system uses about 80% less energy per year to cool the mushroom growing rooms. The new system has an underground cold and heat source.
