MYCOM activities on the development of adsorption cooling systems.

Author(s) : YANAGI H.

Summary

Adsorption refrigerators are primarily attractive because they can operate at temperature levels under 75 °C where liquid absorption refrigerators designed for a low temperature driving heat source cannot work, and because they do not use moving parts in the refrigerant circuit. Moreover, low grade waste heat ranging from 60 to 80 °C can be effectively used as regenerating heat sources. MYCOM started to develop the adsorption refrigerators in 1990, and has concentrated on improving the performance of adsorption heat exchangers and adsorbents themselves. The paper deals with research work concerning these techniques.
