Summary

SMALL OPEN-TYPE, SEMI-HERMETIC OR HERMETIC SCREW COMPRESSORS (30 TO 80 M3/HR) HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED. ONE MANUFACTURER PRESENTS THE MOST RECENT DEVELOPMENTS ACHIEVED BY HIS FIRM IN THIS DOMAIN. TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS INVOLVED THE COMPENSATION IN THE DROP IN EFFICIENCY DUE TO THE DECREASE IN PERIPHERAL SPEED, THE EXTENSION OF THE OPERATING RANGE, THE SIMPLIFICATION OF THE LUBRICATION SYSTEM AND THE CONTROL DEVICE, THE PROPERTIES OF THE LUBRICATING OIL AND THE DECREASE IN NOISE LEVEL. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WAS AIMED AT THE PRODUCTION OF VERY FLEXIBLE MACHINES, THE MACHINING OF ROTORS WITH NEW PROFILES, THE EXTENSION OF THE LIFETIME OF BEARINGS AND GASKETS. PACKAGED UNITS WERE DEVELOPED: LIQUID COOLERS, WATER-WATER HEAT PUMPS, PREFABRICATED ENGINE-ROOMS. THE AUTHOR SURVEYS NEW CURRENT INVESTIGATIONS. J.L.
