New equation predicts viscosity of unknown hydrocarbon vapours.
Author(s) : GOMEZ J. V.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Previous methods for estimating the viscosity of various hydrocarbon vapours have required extensive knowledge including critical properties of the compounds, the molecular structure and even more extensive data often difficult to obtain. The author proposes a new analytical relationship based on the average molar mass and specific temperature. The equation put forward fits viscosity data from 250 to 850 K and molar masses ranging from 16 to 480g/g-mole with smooth extrapolation beyond. Relationships for the formula coefficients are published, also predictions which proves a maximum deviation of the method of 4%. D.W.H.
