Summary

The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), Tallahassee, USA, is developing a new hybrid magnet system which consists of two separate concentric magnets: a 14T 616 mm warm bore superconducting outsert magnet and a 31T, 32 mm bore resistive insert. The superconducting outsert magnet is supported by a unique cryogenic system operating at 1.8 K with pressurized helium II. First cooldown of the 45T hybrid cryostat took place in June and July 1995.
