The author summarises briefly traditional recommendations for building a thermally efficient or comfortable building in a tropical climate. States they are not quantitative, they are partly incorrect, and are designed for only two climates: hot dry and warm humid. Presents a new climate classification made up of 40 tropical climates. Distinguishes eight building elements which affect the thermal system of a building.
