OWING TO THE OZONE-LAYER DEPLETION AND TO THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT, IT IS NECESSARY TO DEVELOP MORE ENERGY-EFFICIENT SYSTEMS. DIRECT AND INDIRECT EFFECTS OF REFRIGERATION PLANTS ON THE GREENHOUSE EFFECTS ARE ANALYZED, AND ECONOMICAL SOLUTIONS ARE PROPOSED. THE INFLUENCE OF CFC SUBSTITUTES ON THE DESIGN OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF COMPRESSOR, AS WELL AS THE PROBLEMS OF OIL ARE DEALT WITH. FINALLY, THE ARTICLE CONCERNS THE VAPOUR-COMPRESSION CYCLES OF CFC SUBSTITUTES, SUCH AS R134A AND OTHER CYCLES.
