Summary

DIFFUSION AND MAGNETIC RELAXATION OF GASEOUS 3HE WERE STUDIED IN THE TEMPERATURE RANGE 1-20 K USING PULSED NMR TECHNIQUE. THE DIFFUSION COEFFICIENT HAS BEEN MEASURED BOTH AT CONSTANT VOLUME AND CONSTANT PRESSURE FROM 5 TO 30 ATM AND FOR DENSITIES FROM 2.2.10-3 TO 10-1 G/CM3. THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE SPIN DIFFUSION COEFFICIENT IS SHOWN TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE GAS KINETIC MODEL. BASED ON THE MEASURED SPIN-LATTICE RELAXATION TIMES THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF VARIOUS MECHANISMS TO THE SPIN-LATTICE RELAXATION OF GASEOUS 3HE ARE ANALYZED AND THE INHERENT RELAXATION TIME EVALUATED.
