NON LINEARITIES IN THE HEAT TRANSFER BETWEEN METALS AND SUPERFLUID LIQUID HELIUM.

Summary

IN RECENT YEARS A NUMBER OF NON LINEAR EFFECTS HAVE BEEN FOUND IN THE HEAT EXCHANGE BETWEEN LIQUID HELIUM II AND SOLIDS. THESE EFFECTS MUST BE DISTINGUISHED FROM SURFACE BOILING, AS THE LATTER CAN OCCUR ONLY IN HELIUM I. THE MAIN EFFECTS ARE SATURATION EFFECTS AND THE ANOMALOUS POWER DEPENDENCE. IN THIS PAPER THE OBSERVATIONS ARE REVIEWED AND DISCUSSED, BOTH FROM A PRACTICAL AND A FUNDAMENTAL POINT OF VIEW.
