Summary
Novem acts in the Netherlands as an agency for energy and the environment between the government and the marketplace. The paper describes the means to reduce supermarket refrigeration energy consumption, estimated at around 6 billion kilowatts/h of electricity annually, in a total of 300 km of display case. The objective is to reduce energy consumption by 30% of 1989 values by the year 2000.
