Summary
THE AUTHORS GIVE THE RESULTS OF A STUDY OF R22 NUCLEATE BOILING. THE MEASUREMENT OF THE HEAT FLOW RANGES BETWEEN 9,500 AND 19,300 WATT/M2 BETWEEN 0.8 AND 1.6 MEGAPASCALS. HEAT TRANSFER OCCURRED IN A HORIZONTAL COPPER TUBE WITH AN AVERAGE SURFACE ROUGHNESS OF 0.3 MICROMETER. THE EFFECT OF PRESSURE AND HEAT FLOW IS STUDIED. A SEMI-EMPIRICAL EQUATION FOR EVAPORATION IS OBTAINED. DATA ARE ALSO COMPARED WITH SEVERAL EXISTING CORRELATIONS. MODIFIED KRUZHILIN, MCNELLY, KUTATELADZE AND BORISHANSKIY-MINCHENKO MODELS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR THE CALCULATION OF THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT OF R22.
