Numerical prediction of vertical temperature distribution in an ecological building and comparison with the block model.

Author(s) : LI J. H., LUO X., HUANG C., et al.

Summary

Based on the Block model for predicting the vertical temperature distribution in a large space, this paper predicts the vertical temperature distribution of an ecological building with an atrium and two exhibition halls with jet diffusers at the ground floor. The building is vertically divided into a number of zones. By solving the equations of airflow balance and that of heat balance in each zone, the vertical temperature distribution can be calculated. The air flow and temperature distributions were also simulated numerically according to the measured interior wall temperature data. The results of the Block model and that of the numerical simulation were validated with the measured temperature field in the building and a good agreement was obtained.
