Summary

A US installer of industrial refrigeration systems has discovered the importance of contaminant exclusion from its on-site and factory assembly processes. Present concepts include the acceptance of only clean and blanked-off piping, compressors and circuit equipment, the use of special steel pipe cutting and welding gear, staff training, and the inclusion of adequate replaceable filters in pipework. The use of mainly an "in-house" workforce committed to clean working practices adds to a dramatic decrease in commissioning problems and service calls. The firm now offers a rectification service for plants with dirty circuit problems. D.W.H.
