OIL CONTENT OF DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT IN A HERMETIC ROTARY COMPRESSOR.

Author(s) : YANAGISAWA T., SHIMIZU T.

Summary

A PARTICULAR DESIGN OF ROLLING PISTON ROTARY COMPRESSOR HAS TH E MOTOR CONNECTED VIA A VERTICAL SHAFT TO THE COMPRESSOR POSITIONED BELOW AND SUBMERGED IN OIL FOR LUBRICATION AND SEALING PURPOSES. OIL-LADEN DISCHARGE VAPOURRISES THROUGH THE ENCLOSING SHELL TO A TOP EXIT. TESTS CONDUCTED BY THE AUTHORS LEAD TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE MASS FLOW OF REFRIGERANT (R22), HAS LITTLE EFFECT ON THE OIL CARRYOVER INTO THE DISCHARGE PIPE, BUT THAT IT IS DEPENDENT MAINLY ON THE ROTATIONAL SPEED OF THE MOTOR/COMPRESSOR.
