OIL CONTROL FOR PARALLEL COMPRESSORS.

Type of article: Article

Summary

WHEN SEVERAL COMPRESSORS OPERATE ON COMMON DISCHARGE AND SUCTION LINES, OIL RETURN CAN BE FROM A COMMON DISCHARGE OIL SEPARATOR. RETURN OIL MAY BE FED FROM THE SEPARATOR TO AN OIL RESERVOIR MAINTAINED SLIGHTLY ABOVE SUCTION PRESSURE BY VENTING IT THROUGH A PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL VALVE. OIL IS THEN FED, PREFERABLY WITH THE AID OF GRAVITY TO AN OIL LEVEL FLOAT VALVE ON EACH COMPRESSOR CRANKCASE. THESE MAY HAVE A PRESSURE EQUALISING LINE TO MAINTAIN A COMMON PRESSURE IN OPERATING AND NON-OPERATING CRANKCASES. A COMPRESSOR RUNNINGAT A HIGHER SUCTION PRESSURE MAY BE INCLUDED IF THE RESERVOIR IS MAINTAINED AT A HIGHER PRESSURE. D.W.H.
