ON THE CORRELATIONS OF NUCLEATE POOL BOILING HEAT TRANSFER.

Summary

A NUMBER OF CORRELATIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PREDICTING HEAT TRANSFER RATES IN BOILING. THE APPLICABILITY OF THESE CORRELATIONS TO THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA, CONDUCTED FOR THE BOILING OF DISTILLED WATER AND ORGANIC LIQUIDS UNDER DIFFERENT CONDITIONS, HAS BEEN TESTED WITH A VIEW TO IDENTIFYING THE CORRELATION POSSESSING THE WIDEST APPLICABILITY. THE CORRELATIONS IN FORM OF RATIO OF HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT AT ANY PRESSURE AT A REFERENCE PRESSURE GIVE THE LEAST ERROR. HOWEVER, SUCH CORRELATIONS CANNOT BE USED TO FIND ABSOLUTE VALUES OF HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT. THE CORRELATIONS PREDICTING ABSOLUTE VALUES FOR DISTILLED WATER AND ORGANIC LIQUIDS WITH MAXIMUM ACCURACY HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED.
