Summary

THE PAPER PROVIDES A DETAILED LITERATURE SURVEY OF DATA FOR NUCLEATE BOILING ON ENHANCED SURFACE GEOMETRIES. THE ENHANCEMENT GEOMETRIES INCLUDE FINNED SURFACES AND< STRUCTURED > AND < POROUS COATED > ENHANCED SURFACE GEOMETRIES. THE BASE SURFACE GEOMETRIES OF INTEREST INCLUDE HORIZONTAL TUBES AND PLATES. THE SURVEY FURTHER INVESTIGATES THE EXISTENCE OF CORRELATIONS THAT CAN BE USED TO PREDICT THE BOILING HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT AS A FUNCTION OF REFRIGERANT TYPE AND FLUID PROPERTIES. UNFORTUNATELY, NO USEFUL CORRELATIONS EXIST. WORK TO DEVELOP ANALYTICALLY BASED MODELS TO EXPLAIN THE MECHANISM OF THE BOILING PROCESS ON ENHANCED SURFACES IS ALSO DISCUSSED.
