Number: pap. n. TP-064

Author(s) : SONG W. J., ZHENG R. Y., FENG Z. P.

Summary

An ice slurry concentrator was designed based on the hydrocyclone which has been widely used in the mining, oil refining and other industries. In this paper, the effects of inlet flow rate, inlet ice fraction, and pressure drop ratio on the performance of ice slurry concentrator was studied by combining numerical simulation with experiments. The results showed that increasing the inlet flow rate would increase the recovery rate of ice particles and the concentration efficiency. The separation efficiency of small ice particles was reduced with the increasing of the inlet ice fraction. Adjusting pressure drop ratio of the hydrocyclone would change the overflow ratio as well as the recovery rate of ice particles, thus affecting the concentration ratio greatly.
