A COMPUTER MODEL OF AN AIR COOLER BEING DEFROSTED WAS ESTABLISHED, TAKING ALL THE MAIN VARIABLES INTO ACCOUNT. BY SYSTEMATICALLY STUDYING THE EFFECT OF FROSTING RATE, FROST DENSITY, HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT AND THE DEFROST HEAT FLUX, THE OPTIMUM TIME FOR THE INITIATION OF DEFROST CAN BE CALCULATED.
