Optimization of a building's cooling plant with regard to operating costs and energy use.

Summary
This paper describes a neural network controller that records the complex behaviour of VCRC equipment and building loads and then optimally controls the system in a cost-lowering manner. Neural networks are a well-known tool among artificial intelligence techniques. They can reproduce the relationship between input and output variables of complex non-linear systems. Thus, they can be used to gain an insight into the behaviour of complex cooling plants and then be used to control them.
