OPTIMIZATION OF COLD STORE DESIGN USING FLUID DYNAMICS MODELS.

Summary

A COMPUTER PROGRAMME WAS DEVELOPED FOR SIMULATING AIR TEMPERATURES, VELOCITIES, AND PRODUCT TEMPERATURES INSIDE A COLD STORE FOR SEASONAL STORAGE OF FRUIT. THIS PROGRAMME WAS USED TO OPTIMIZE THE PARAMETERS OF SUCH A STORE. APPLICATION OF RECOMMENDATIONS WILL LEAD TO CONSIDERABLE ENERGY SAVINGS (UP TO 70 % OF THE REQUIRED FAN POWER).
