Summary

THIS PAPER DEALS WITH A THEORETICAL ANALYSIS OF DIRECT CONTACT EVAPORATION OF A DROP MOVING IN A STAGNANT COLUMN OF AN IMMISCIBLE LIQUID. THE NON-DIMENSIONAL PARAMETERS GOVERNING THE MOTION AND HEAT TRANSFER ARE IDENTIFIED AND A STUDY OF THE EFFECTS OF THE VARIATION OF THESE PARAMETERS IS MADE. THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE PREDICTED RESULTS AND THE AVAILABLE EXPERIMENTAL VALUES IS REASONABLY GOOD.
