Passive energy recovery system using heat pipe in air conditioning systems.

Author(s) : KUMAR R., KAUL S. K., SINGH A. K., et al.

Summary

A copper tube lined with wick structure heat pipe was tested for its heat transfer capacity in the design operating temperature range. The evaporator and condenser sections were jacketed and supplied with water at different temperatures to measure the heat input to evaporator and the heat rejected at condenser. The test results of thermal performance of above heat pipe element has been used to design and fabricate a heat pipe heat exchanger in once through air conditioning system. In the paper, the application of heat pipe heat exchanger as a device for energy conservation in an air-conditioning system has been discussed.
