Performance analysis and entropy generation for multi-beds adsorption cooling system.

Author(s) : MYAT A., THU K., NG K. C.

Summary

This paper presents the performance analysis of an adsorption cooling system using entropy generation analysis. A numerical model is developed to predict the performance of the adsorption cycle operating under cyclic steady conditions. Entropy generation of each of the components in the adsorption cycle is accomplished by the use of Gibbs free energy equation. The study is to investigate the contribution entropy generation from the main components namely: i) adsorber; ii) desorber; iii) evaporator; and iv) condenser. It is found from the analysis that the contribution of entropy generation is the most from the desorber and the adsorber, followed by the condenser. The evaporator is found to be the least contribution of entropy generation.
