Summary

This paper presents an open cycled absorption heat pump (AHP) for recovering the waste heat from exhaust-air of waste-water sludge dryers. In order to recover the heat as more as possible in higher temperature, the absorption process was analyzed and optimized by using a “double-stage absorption” system. Steam with the saturation temperature of up to about 116? can be generated from the absorber. A double-effect generator is used to decrease the energy demanding for driving the heat pump and increase the COP. A thermal dynamic model was established to analyze the performance of the system. Considering the crystallization problem, the highest concentration of the absorbent say as LiBr-water solution was limited to 70% wt. The highest COP can reach 1.75.
