Performance characterization of the TRW 3503 and 6020 pulse tube coolers.

Summary

These integral-designed sister coolers, built under Space Missile Tracking System/Air Force Phillips Laboratory sponsorship, utilize 10-cc common compression space compressors, and are distinguishable by slight differences in the pulse tube designs which optimized cooler performance for either 35 or 60 K operation. The coolers were characterized by varying the environmental and cooler operating parameters (such as compressor stroke, piston offset, and drive frequency). The results of the parametric studies are presented.
