Summary

Solar refrigeration has the potential to improve the quality of life of people who live in areas with insufficient electricity. The development unit for solar equipments is actually conducting different experiments on small-scale refrigerators using solar electric energy on one part, and a new environmentally friendly refrigerant on the other part, and the results are very encouraging. This paper describes the design and the experimental investigation of conventional container of 1.5 m3 alimented by solar photovoltaic electricity. This container was designed and fabricated in Algeria; this later has been tested in Algeria aiming to conduct many tests. It can be concluded that the performance of the solar container is very stable and it can serve for perishable food storage, vaccine, and drug depositing at low temperature in remote areas especially in the large Sahara. The obtained results enabled our team to add some changes, in order to make it use easy, such as; moving container or embedded with small tracks, heavy containers and negative cold rooms
