Type of article: Article
Summary
The so-called economizer cycle, in which cool, ambient air is utilized for cooling, has been applied in many air conditioning systems in South Africa. In this paper, the performance of the economizer cycle is evaluated with the aid of a cooling/heating load and energy simulation program. Two hypothetical buildings were considered. Substantial energy savings were achieved.
