Performance of a two-cycle refrigerator-freezer using HFC refrigerants.
Author(s) : BASKIN E., DELAFIELD F. R.
Summary
The paper gives an overview of the modifications implemented by a Danish university on a US refrigerator-freezer and presents experimental performance testing results of the refrigerator/freezer. The modifications will cause the refrigerator-freezer to be more expensive, but the performance enhancements should offset cost. The modifications include: two cycles instead of one (two compressors), increased insulation thickness, condensers integrated into the outer steel cabinet, better temperature control, defrost heater integrated in the freezer evaporator.
