PERFORMANCE OF A TWO-PHASE THERMOSIPHON AIR-TO-AIR HEAT EXCHANGER.

Summary

THE PERFORMANCE OF AN AIR-TO-AIR, MULTIPLE-LOOP, TWO-PHASE THERMOSIPHON HEAT EXCHANGERSYSTEM, UTILIZING R11 AS ITS WORKING FLUID AND FINNED TUBE COILS AS ITS EVAPORATOR AND CONDENSER, HAS BEEN STUDIED EXPERIMENTALLY. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SYSTEM WAS INSENSITIVE TO THE QUANTITY OF CHARGE IN THE EVAPORATOR, EXCEPT WHEN DRYOUT OCCURRED ; IT INCREASED WITH THE HOT TO COLD AIR DUCT TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE AND DECREASED AS THE AIRFLOW RATES INCREASED.
