Summary

Carbon dioxide is one of the most promising, environmentally friendly and energy efficient refrigerant. Nowadays, many centralized CO2 systems are already installed in supermarketsas a replacement of HFC refrigerants with higher GWP in order to reduce environmental impact and energy consumption.Nevertheless, integral display cabinets using CO2 are still rare, and the performance of the technology in this case is not well known. In this context, a test bench has been developed to evaluate the performance of an integral display cabinet using CO2 as a refrigerant. Depending on the ambient temperature, the refrigerating system is operating in subcritical, near critical or transcritical mode. Measurements have been performed with different ambient conditions to characterize the display cabinet performance.
