Summary
TESTS ARE REPORTED ON PLATE FINNED TUBE DIRECT EXPANSION AIR COOLING AND DEHUMIDIFYING HEAT EXCHANGERS. THESE TESTS ARE CONDUCTED ON 10 COILS WITH 3. 1 TO 5.5 FINS/CM AND WITH 3 TO 8 TUBE ROWS FOR BOTH DRY AND WET SURFACE CONDITIONS FOR THE AIR SIDE. THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA AND A DISCUSSION OF THE EFFECTS OF FIN DENSITY AND TUBE ROWS ON THE AIR SIDE HEAT TRANSFER AND PRESSURE DROP ARE PRESENTED AS WELL AS THE EFFECTS ON THE NUSSELT NUMBER AND THE TWO-PHASE PRESSURE DROP FOR THE VOLATILE REFRIGERANT (WITH THE PRESENCE OF OIL). THE RESULTS ARE USED TO DEVELOP CORRELATIONS FOR THE PREDICTION OF THE HEAT TRANSFER AND PRESSURE DROP.
