Summary

The performance of a loop-type thermosiphon heat pipe in the dual zone split type ice storage air conditioner is investigated in this paper. The sub-cooler of refrigerant utilized a blunder of double-tube thermosiphon heat pipe. Ice, cold energy storage was produced during off-peak period and then ice was used as cooling system at day time to reduce electric consumption during the peak load of power. The system consisted of a conventional performance of the dual zone split system comparing with original design single zone operation. It also found that the water temperature should be kept below 25°C in order to prevent overload of compressor. The whole system was able to operate with extended load d for at least five hours continuously. The COP of the system reach 5.8 during the deice process.
