Performance study of a new solar air collector.

Author(s) : PENG D. G., ZHANG X. S.

Summary

In order to improve the thermal efficiency, a pin-fin arrays solar air collector was designed. Based on the analysis of experimental data, the average thermal efficiency of pin-fin arrays collector might reach 0.5-0.74, a formula could be concluded that reflected the variety of the highest thermal efficiency as function of dimensionless pin-fin span and dimensionless pin-fin height. Applying the heat equilibrium model, the mathematic model of thermal efficiency about PZ3-2.5 pin-fin arrays collector was put forward. It can break through experiment's limit to apply CFD software to simulate the current field and temperature field in pin-fin arrays solar air collector, which was according to experiment data. Through the analysis of simulation data, a rule equation of convective heat transfer can be gained about PZ7-11.25 pin-fin arrays collector.
