Performance testing of various cryocoolers for conduction cooling of US Navy superconducting magnetic minesweeping system.

Author(s) : ROTH E., GREEN G., CHAFE J. N.

Summary

Refrigerators with capacities between 1 and 6 watts at temperatures from 4.5 to 10 K are being considered to conductively cool the superconducting magnet system. The refrigerators tested include a 2-stage Gifford-McMahon and two 2-stage Gifford-McMahon's with a Joule-Thomson third stage.
