Summary

THE PAPER GIVES TEST RESULTS ON A NUMBER OF HERMETIC MOTOR-COMPRESSOR UNITS OPERATING ON R22 AND R502. COMPARISONS INDICATE LOWER DISCHARGE TEMPERATURES AND BETTER ISENTROPIC EFFICIENCIES WITH R502, BUT ALSO A CONSIDERABLE DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE BETWEEN DIFFERENT COMPRESSORS, PARTICULARLY AT HIGHER COMPRESSION RATIOS. THE TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON A CALORIMETRIC CIRCUIT LOOP, MEASURING INLET AND OUTLET CONDITIONS AT THE BOUNDARIES OF A CALORIMETRIC BOX. D.W.H.
