THE AUTHORS MAKE A THEORETICAL STUDY OF RESORPTION HEAT PUMPS AND HEAT TRANSFORMERS GIVING THE SELECTION CRITERIA OF MIXTURES AND COMPARE THE PERFORMANCES OF THE TWO TYPES OF MACHINES. THE TRANSPOSITION OF THE RESULTS TO A PILOT ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP OPERATING WITH WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE MADE IT POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN TEMPERATURES OF 413 K (140 DEG C) FROM ENERGY AT 343-353 K (70-80 DEG C) WITH EFFICIENCIES HIGHER THAN 0.40.
