Summary

A description is given of the operating principle of a water-zeolite periodic heat pump with an internal heat-transfer circuit and zone-wise sorption. The zone-wise sorption makes it possible to achieve a considerable increase in the internally transferable quantity of heat. A mathematical model was developed. A map shows the useful output and the heat ratio as a function of the number of heat transfer units value with the relative loading width as parameter. With this heat pump, it is possible to achieve clearly higher heat ratios than with a continuously operating ammonia-water absorption heat pump.
