Summary

Phase-change materials (PCM) with a melting temperature of 22 °C can be used for passive heat storage for the air conditioning of buildings. The materials can be applied directly in rooms with a lowered ceiling. The thermal capacity of a PCM ceiling is sufficient to store the heat in a typical office room. This heat can be expelled at night using night ventilation, or used for passive heating at night.
