Summary

THE RESISTIVE STATE OF WIDE SUPERCONDUCTING FILMS RESULTING FROM THE FORMATION OF PHASE SLIP LINES IS INVESTIGATED. SUCH FILMS ARE TWO-DIMENSIONAL ANALOGS OF PHASE SLIP CENTERS IN NARROW CHANNELS. THE FORMATION OF PHASE SLIP LINES ON WHICH LOCAL SUPPRESSION OF SUPERCONDUCTIVITY OCCURS AND AN ELECTRIC FIELD IS GENERATED MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR MOST OF THE FILM TO REMAIN IN THE SUPERCONDUCTING STATE AT A CURRENT WHICH EXCEEDS THE CRITICAL CURRENT.
