Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

MEASUREMENTS FROM A SINGLE PLAIN TUBE WITH DIFFERENT DEGREES OF SURFACE ROUGHNESS AND DIFFERENT WALL MATERIALS AT SATURATION PRESSURES BETWEEN 0.3 AND 39 BARS AREREPORTED AND ARE COMPARED TO NEW MEASUREMENTS MADE AT KARLSRUHE (FRG). IT IS SHOWN THAT THE NEW MEASUREMENTS AGREE WITH THE DATA ON THE RELATIVE PRESSURE DEPENDENCE OF THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT REPORTED IN THE LITERATURE. THE RESULTSDEMONSTRATE THAT THE INFLUENCE OF THE HEATED WALL ON THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT IS MORE COMPLEX THAN THAT CONSIDERED BY CORRELATIONS AT PRESENT.
